I so agree with you, Clare. There are so many women who have lived amazing lives but have been forgotten in history. It's time to root out these stories and tell them now. Also to make sure it doesn't continue today. In this celebrity-focussed world we live in, the true heroines can get lost. I saw a 90 year old woman, Gladys Morris, from Royton near Oldham on a BBC North West programme in February 2011. She had applied to be in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest yoga teacher in the UK. I need to check whether she succeeded as she died shortly after her appearance. I was so sorry. I'd planned to interview her as I was staying at my sister's only a mile or so away at the time. It's a timely reminder to seize opportunities when we can. She'll have to be in another blog along with some other inspirational yoga teachers in their 90s I've seen.

I feel sad to think of all the unsung heroines we have missed over the centuries. Not the familiar (I picture Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst, Florence Nightingale and so on), but the nameless, faceless women who were their allies and friends, supporters and colleagues, neighbours and beneficiaries - they may not have basked in the limelight but probably had a story to tell no less interesting and courageous. I'm glad you're writing stories down Jane, they're ALL important!

She's definitely a gem, Paul. What a lovely trip to have travelled round Wales and Ireland, both very special places. I love Llangollen. Having been brought up till I was 8 in nearby Mold, we visited fairly regularly. I was captivated by Llangollen's atmosphere, the view of Dinas Bran as we approached, the buzzy shops, the gush of the river over the rocks, the horse drawn barge along the canal .... it was very exciting for a child.

I went back as a volunteer at the International Eisteddfod in July this year where I met lots of wonderful people from all over the world. A jewel of a place with people gems everywhere. I count myself fotunate to have met Bernadetta.

What a lovely chance meeting. There are some true gems in this world and Bernadetta sounds like one of them. On our trip through Wales and Ireland we really enjoyed Llangollen and it's quaint buildings and lovely people.

Thank you, Julie.

You're a continuing part of our journey together.

Lets get visible!

(I'm hearing Olivia Newton-John singing now - all leg warmers and keep fit videos - do you remember? That's it now. I'm back in the 80s!)
